I’m the girl who won a website and decided to try something completely new—blogging itself! Did I mention I have zero experience? Life has a funny way of handing us unexpected opportunities, and diving headfirst into the world of writing was definitely one of them.

Now, as we embark on this next chapter together, let me reintroduce myself. I’m Yella, your favorite hot mess full of happiness. In my quest to embrace life’s adventures, I’m an extroverted soul who thrives in social settings. But beneath all that confidence lies a fear of taking risks, especially when it comes to pursuing my wildest dreams. It’s like having a heart that craves adventure but a mind that’s terrified of failure.

But no more! Stepping into my thirties, a transformative thought took hold of me: why not break free from the shackles of self-doubt and use my thirties to take a leap into the unknown? That’s when the idea for “Yella Tries” was born. It’s my personal journey of self-discovery, growth, and overcoming the fear that has held me back for far too long.

Now, hold up darlings! When I say “trying,” I don’t mean experimenting with drugs, engaging in criminal activities, or plotting a murder—absolutely not. Or will I….😏
No seriously, “Yella Tries” is all about exploring new experiences, testing my limits, and unearthing the courage to pursue my passions unapologetically.

When I’m not trying things I’ve never done before, you can often find me doing stuff I am good at. Whether it’s getting all Zen in the beautiful Surinamese interior or dancing the night away until the sun comes up, I know how to have a good time. I must admit, I’m quite the dancer if I do say so myself. Although, if you see me from a distance, I can’t promise you’ll recognize any specific dance moves. If you’re having a down day, I’m your girl to lift your spirits, and if you need a teammate for games, get ready to win because that’s what we do.
If you ever spot me in traffic, my live traffic karaoke sessions rival even Beyoncé’s concerts.

On a personal note, I also have a weakness for fried chicken wings, the color hot pink, dark humor, and a good vodka cranberry cocktail—hey, we all have our quirks!
